How to Disney-fy your DIS-EMBER!

Jolly Holiday Greetings!

As promised, I'm here with my first official DIS-EMBER post! Today I will be sharing five tips to enhance your December by putting some pixie dust into your daily activities! Let's jump right into it!

1.) Start your day off with some Hot Cocoa, Cffee, or Tea... in a festive Disney Mug!

I love sipping a nice warm beverage in the morning during chillier months. It just starts my day off on the right foot! Make sure you have an adorable Disney mug to sip from! I like Nestle Hot Chocolate with lots of mini marshmallows or a homemade peppermint mocha, personally.

2.) Decorate Like Disney!

Disney is known for going all out with their decorations, so why can't you?! Of course you can't exactly replicate the gorgeous decor of the parks, but you can add as much festive flair to your home or living space as you'd like! Make sure to add some Disney ornaments and other sparkly trinkets around the house for that extra magical feel!

3.) Listen to your favorite Disney Christmas songs!

Disney always has the best music, but I don't need to tell you that! Make sure to mix in some tunes sung by your fave furry creatures to your Christmas playlist. They're just so gosh darn adorable- their voices make you melt like Olaf!

4.) Bake some cookies!

Whether you like to make tasty homemade sugar or gingerbread cookies from scratch or you prefer to make them from a package, it doesn't matter! What matters is that they're delicious and they always get you in the holiday spirit!

5.) Spread Christmas Cheer!

The "Disney Way" is something to embody every day, not just during the holiday season. If you've got out of touch with it though, the best way to rekindle that magical Disney spirit is during the season of giving! Give some small presents, or those cookies you baked, (see tip 4!) to family, neighbors, friends, or those in need. It will make you feel wonderful, and you'll make someone genuinely happy. There is no better way to "live like Disney" than to make others feel special.

Happy DISEMBER Dis-friends,
The Pixie Dust Princess

As always feel free to leave any comments, questions, or pixie dust ;) below...

Throwback Thursday: Share a Dream Come True...Truly!

Many people say it is every little girl's dream to be a Disney Princess. When I was eight years old, I was able to live out that fantasy...

It was our yearly spring break to Disney World, and I was ever so excited to get to the first park, which is always Magic Kingdom for my family! As I held my mother's hand through the turnstiles, I was overcome with that feeling I still get every time I enter a Disney Park entrance- pure joy and peace (because I'm home). Even so, it was simply an ordinary Magic Kingdom park day, and my parents and I strolled onto Main Street U.S.A. I remember barely even getting a glimpse at my lovely Cinderella Castle, when all of a sudden a man in a plaid suit and fancy name tag approached us. Keep in mind I had a huge grin on my face already...it was about to become the widest, most goofy grin you've ever seen! :) The CM began talking to my family about Disney, how often we visit, what my favorite things to do were, my favorite princess, and more Disney talk. It was absolutely shocking however, when all of a sudden he knelt down beside me and said, "Well, do you want to be a princess today? Would you and your parents like to be the Grand Marshals of our parade? I think you're the perfect Disney family for it!" I remember getting teary eyed (I was an emotional and grateful child, haha) and nodding and saying "Yes, thank you, thank you, thank you" over and over again. My parents' faces lit up with excitement, too. Who wouldn't want the amazing chance to be the Grand Marshals of the Parade? This year, it was the "Share A Dream Come True" Parade, which I absoluteley adored. My mind began racing,  even though the CM was still talking, telling us all the special details my day would be filled with. My heart was racing too, and my grin was expanding by the second.  He went on to say we'd be getting a special surprise later on, to enjoy a few hours in the park, and to meet him by the entrance of the parade- to the left of Splash Mountain. Well, those few hours happened to be the most wonderful blur and soon enough, we were at the designated meeting spot. Once we arrived, the CM pulled out of a Disney bag three pairs of Mickey Ears, each engraved in gold lettering with our names. It was such a magical present, and I still have them in my room to this day! We were instructed to wear them while riding in the parade. All of a sudden, a blue, old fashioned car appeared before my eyes, and the CM announced "This is what you'll be riding in today, Walt's old car he used to ride around the Magic Kingdom in with his wife, Lilian!" I was in shock- me.in my idol's car.in front of all these people. This was seriously a dream come true. As we hopped in, we saw the parade floats in the backstage area all lined up and ready to go. A nice man was to walk alongside us and he called me Princess the entire way. He was hilarious and showed me how to do the signature Princess wave, and I, of course, mimicked him! My parents were just as excited as I was- everyone is a kid at heart, especially at Disney! All of a sudden, our personal driver took off down the parade route, and before I knew it the music was pumping and I got the biggest adrenaline rush of my life! We led the parade itself, and rode down the route waving, with permanent smiles that lasted the entire trip! They announced our last name, where we were from, and I felt like true Disney royalty! It seemed like it lasted forever, and even still, I didn't want this once in a lifetime opportunity to end! People waved and smiled at us, and I truly felt like a little Princess! I danced along in my seat to the catchy soundtrack and waved so much, my arm felt like it was going to fall off. In the end, though, it didn't even matter because this would end up being the most magical Disney moment of my life! As we rode to the Car Barn (where we were unloaded from Walt's car), we got plenty of pictures and were able to thank the wonderful CMs who made the entire experience possible. The rest of the day I was beaming, and I told everyone how we were in the parade that day! Later on, we actually bumped into some neighbors from home and they said they heard our town announced and couldn't believe it- only in DISNEY would this happen! What a small world. This was an experience that was priceless, and it all came with admission to the park, and LOTS of pixie dust! Since that experience every time we see that CM, he rarely remembers us until we retell him the story of the day he made US the Grand Marshals- then he remembers and we make sure to tell him how he changed our lives that day! Disney can do so much for you, and I am so blessed that it is such a signifiant part of my life. Now that I've been a tiny princess Grand Marshal in the parade...I would love to be friends with a real Princess one day... You know what they say... "When you wish upon a star...":)

Love and Pixie Dust Always,
*The Pixie Dust Princess*

p.s. I want to hear your most magical moment at the Disney parks! What made it so memorable? Any questions for me pertaining to my personal experience as the Grand Marshal? Leave 'em in the comments below! <3 Share YOUR DREAM COME TRUE!

Tuesday Treat: NEW Gourmet Cake Cups at MK's Cheshire Cafe

If you are a big Alice in Wonderland fan, or even just a fan of the teacups in Disney World, you probably have visited the Cheshire Cafe in the Magic Kingdom for a drink or snack! It is not a very well known quick service snack spot, but I've always enjoyed it for an Iced Mocha or Lemonade Slush. Now, I am positive that this cute cafe will be getting a bit more business because. . .

... just LOOK at these adorable NEW cake cups! Ummm, YUM AND WOW (as Queen Stacey would say)! Look at that edible intricate artwork that comes with your layered cake concoction. Next trip to the World, I am stopping by the Chesire Cafe to try these! I am sure I will love them, as Disney's cake products tend to always satisfy my sweet tooth! The Mad Hatter is mocha, while the Cheshire Cat is vanilla. Both cups include moist cake and fluffy frosting layered together to make the perfect treat!

Are you MAD as a hatter for these new cake cups? Let me know in the comments below!

Sweet Salutations,

Pixie Dust Poll: Why Do YOU love the Magic Kingdom?

So, a few days back I conducted a small survey on Twitter! I was very pleased with the small, but enthusiastic response I received. The three following questions were asked:

NAME ONE EMOTION YOU FEEL WHEN YOU WALK INTO THE MAGIC KINGDOM!

NAME YOUR FAVORITE MAGIC KINGDOM LAND!

MICKEY BAR OR DOLE WHIP?! (Ah, the age-old question...)

Here are some of you responses:

NAME ONE EMOTION YOU FEEL WHEN YOU WALK INTO THE MAGIC KINGDOM.

"LOVED"

"OVERJOYED"
"UNREAL-MUCH BETTER THAN REALITY"
"ECSTATIC"
"PEACE....BECAUSE I AM HOME"
"OVERWHELMED...WITH JOY"- 2

MICKEY BAR OR DOLE WHIP?! (ah, the age-old question...)

I conducted this survey simply because I love seeing the grand and the littlest pleasures people find in the Magic Kingdom, which just so happens to be my favorite park! The MK gives guests a certain sense of clarity while fully enchanting them with all the magic the name promises. Everyone feels at home when they see the castle . . . they can feel relaxed or overwhelmed . . . or they can feel utter peace. The Magic Kingdom brings out so many emotions because all of your favorite childhood (and adulthood) favorites come alive before your eyes. You are transported into a storybook filled with magical lands that exude happiness and pure excitement. Around every corner is another adventure, character, or treat. In my personal opinion, everyone should start out their Disney vacation with a stop to the MK to get the full sense of magic that you're about to encounter your entire trip!

p.s Dole Whips can be found in Adventureland- and they both received the highest votes . . . do I see a correlation here . . .? ;)

Did you enjoy this pixie dust poll post? Questions? Comments? What do YOU love about the MK?! Post here, or contact me on twitter: @PrincessofPD

Try the Grey Stuff! It's Delicious!

Bonjour, my lovely readers! It is Wednesday, which means we are talking about Disney delights in the form of FOOD! I have a rumbly in my tummy, and it is because of the best creation now known to man-kind! Whew! Well, I can't speak for it myself, as I've never tried it, but do you know what made is about to make it's amazing appearance at Be Our Guest restaurant in New Fantasyland? I'll let you have a peek...

These are none other than "GREY STUFF CUPCAKES"! Genius! Disney has done it again, folks. I can tell you that the strawberry and chocolate cupcakes are scrumptious, but cookies and cream frosting? This little guy has already won my heart! It looks to me as if this cupcake has a moist chocolate cake, with the "grey stuff" (cookies n' cream) frosting topping it off. With edible pearls, of course. We are in France, after all! :)

Previously, the "Grey Stuff" was only served at dinner, for special occasions, and sometimes, per request. Since I have yet to dine at Be Our Guest for dinner (lunch is so yummy, though!), I have not had the opportunity to try the "Grey Stuff", but I hear it's DIVINE.

Doesn't this cupcake look too pretty to eat? Well, actually, although it is beautiful, I can't wait to devour this "Grey Stuff Cupcake". But don't take my word for it- you'll have to ask the dishes! They think they know it all ;)!

... It's Delicious,
The Pixie Dust Princess

This is Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

Wait a minute, is that title right, it's not even October yet!
Ah, what my lovely readers are probably saying to themselves right now! Folks, Halloween is right around the corner at the Walt Disney World Resort, and we need to start planning! It's never too early for Disney planning, right? Especially when it comes to an extra special event!

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party begins TOMORROW! HOW EXCITING AND WONDERFUL! I SO wish I was attending! I have never been able to go to my happy place during the fall period. I know, I know, I must go one of these years, but I know I am also very fortunate to have been able to go so many times in my life!

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year, as is the Fall season in general. I can only imagine how wonderful the "Most Magical Place on Earth" must be during such a mysterious and enchanting time!

MNSSHP runs tomorrow through November 1st, and I hope you are able/ have been able to secure a ticket (starting at $59) if you are planning on visiting the world in the next few months.

This fabulous event includes everything from trick or treating to world class entertainment (including the magnificently eerie Boo To You parade, which I've watched on YouTube many a time) to special meet and greets with your favorite Disney pals (and even some rare Villains!!!).

All I can say is if you are going to this sure to be amazing event, you are in for a treat, literally and figuratively ;)!

Disney actually released the MNSSHP guide map today, so for those of you who are attending/wish to attend/just want a peek at the fun, here it is: http://tinyurl.com/ohedkdj

My Oh My, What A Wonderful Day!

Hello there my pixie dust princesses and princes, do not fear, I am still here. Ooh, a rhyme, I like those! So, my late summer/beginning of fall period has been incredibly busy with new adventures and long adjustment periods. Each week I will try to have a good balance and variety of posts. Without further ado, I give you today's post:

"My oh my, what a wonderful day"! Ah, I just love these lyrics from the token song "Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah" (from the 1946 film "Song of the South"), known from it's Splash Mountain rendition with all the cute forest critters welcoming you after the huge plummet! This phrase just exudes pure happiness. And let's be honest, don't we just love those days where we can exclaim this phrase with pure honesty and sheer joy? I know I do. Some days you may say, well I wish I could say today was a wonderful day, but x happened, and it kind of bummed me out. We all have days like that, and it is completely normal! Yet, what if you totally tried with all your heart and mind to block out those "x"'s in our life. All the trivial things, people we don't want to deal with, and other frustrating situations. Of course we can't rid of these things, people and situations completely, but we can choose how we decide to deal with them. I know this is a lifelong battle, a daily struggle that people deal with, but I know when I decide to really cherish even the smallest, seemingly minute daily pleasures, that day will turn out to be infinitely better.

Lately, even I, The Pixie Dust Princess has found myself getting into new situations where things don't always go as planned. Yet, I have really been trying to focus on the good, the fun, the exciting. Even taking something boring or dull, like a rainstorm, and dancing in it. I actually took that old phrase, and lived it the other day (wearing no rain gear, mind you) and I had the time of my life. Dealing with difficult situations is never easy, and nobody said it was going to be. Sometimes, life just happens, and we really do need to "keep calm and carry on."

Princesses don't wait for others to make a move, they do their own thing, and therefore, they become special heroines in their own right. Princesses give to others even if they don't have much themselves. Princesses make the conscience decision to forgive and forget, even when it seems too difficult. Princesses find the little joys in life that keep so many going day after day.

We, as Princesses of our own Kingdoms, need to realize that even thought there is plenty of pixie dust in the world, sometimes, it can take a while to find it. That is why I write this blog, to hopefully help someone through a tough day, or to grant a smile or a dream. Princesses give and love, and hopefully this Fall, you can begin your journey to becoming your own person who doesn't need to rely on others for pixie dust. That way, when you do run across someone or something that is so pixie-dusted, it will make it that much more special.

Wishing for Lots of Pixie Dust in Your Weekend,
The Pixie Dust Princess

Happy September! It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Today marks one of my favorite days of the year- the first of September. To me this date alludes to all the fun and fantasy the fall season brings. It signifies the trips to the apple orchard, pumpkin picking, warm boots, chunky sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, and all of my favorite holidays. I know I have been terrible with the updates recently, but it is for a personal reason. I'm embarking on a new adventure, and so far, it has been incredible. Once I get into the swing of things for the fall, I will be posting on a Monday, Wedneday, Friday schedule. I just wanted to check in to let you know the Pixie Dust Princess is alive and well, and incredibly happy, too. I'm looking forward to sharing my favorite season with you, and delving into more Disney stories, more advice, and of course, more pixie dust.

If you have any ideas for upcoming blog posts you would like to see (pertaining to Fall/not) let me know in the comments!

NEW lesportsac Disney Fall Collection

So, I know I just did a post about the new Vera Bradley collection, yet there are more Disney bags on the market this fall!!! The newest collection by lesportsac is inspired by It's A Small World!

What I love about lesportsac bags is how functional they are. Quality isn't the only thing I look for in a bag, though. This pixie dust princess loves her cute patterns! Luckily, lesportsac has got plenty of them.

I can't wait to buy a bag- I'm really loving the backpack in the black pattern!

Are you loving this collection, too? If so, what are you looking to purchase (or what catches your eye if not)?

Lots of Love,
The Pixie Dust Princess

A Pinch of Positivity ~Creativity~

When I first created this blog, I decided that I didn't only wish for it to be a place Disney fans could receive the latest Disney news and creative tips, but a place to share inspiration and positivity. That's why today I am making it a goal for myself to write a "A Pinch of Positivity" post at least once a week. Us Disney fans have a lot in common- not only a love and passion for a creation that is so fantastic, but also many of us share inspiration to create, to be unique and to be ourselves in a world that needs the beautiful talents of special people.

For today's pinch of positivity, I wanted to remind you that you can always create something new. This remarkable ability is a beautiful gift we were all blessed with, because no matter how big or small this creation is, it will make a difference. Whether it be only you that see this creation, or your family, friends, or even a wide base of admirers, it has the ability to influence more creativity (even if it within yourself!).

I know when I started this blog, I had been inspired by other Disney and positivity- based blogs, and I had always wanted to begin my own blogging endeavor. This summer I finally put my love of writing, Disney, and positivity to the test. I truly hope with all my heart that just one person has been inspired to do something a little more creative in their lives after reading any of my blog posts. That's the great thing about creativity: once you have enough passion, you can always spark a little (or a lot!) of passion within another.

Maybe a reader has tested out a few Beautifully Disney makeup products, or has decided to go on a new snack hunt in one of the Disney parks. Each of these small activities can create so much wonder in ourselves that can lead to more creativity and pure fun.

I know sometimes people can take this "inspiration borrowing" as copying, yet I do believe imitation is the largest form of flattery. I know it takes a while to take in this concept and fully appreciate it, but just think; if you are inspiring others to do something the same or similar to what you do, doesn't that mean you've created something so enticing that others just need a bit of your creativity and passion in their lives?

The world needs more passionate human beings, and passion begets creativity and creativity begets passion. It is a beautiful cycle that leads to more discoveries, happiness, laughter, and hope.

Now, this weekend, I urge you to create. Maybe you've always wanted to draw- try it, you might like it, or even better, you could see some potential within yourself. Possibly you've been dying to take a spontaneous road trip- you never know what adventures are awaiting you. Try something new, get creative, and remember our pal Figment . . . all it takes it "one little spark"!

**p.s. Aren't those WDI imagineers so wonderful that they could create Figment (the cute purple dragon pictured above)? Figment urges visitors at EPCOT daily to use their imagination and create! Thanks, WDI, for inspiring ME <3**

Disney Legend Marty Sklar's New Book!!!

If you didn't already know, The Pixie Dust Princess is a self-proclaimed bibliophile! In other words, I adore books- especially about Disney! Well, Marty Sklar's new book Dream It! Do It!: My Half Century Creating Disney's Magic Kingdoms sounds just like my cup of tea! I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of this sure to be intriguing autobiography. If you don't know who Marty Sklar is, I will inform you a bit about this truly amazing man. Mr. Sklar has been with Disney ever since he was a college student, and has been through adventures with Mr. Disney himself, along with obtaining high ranking positions with the Disney Company such as International Ambassador for WDI. He is a Disney legend (seriously, he was awarded this high honor back in 2001) and has been an incredible asset to the company. I am just giddy with excitement to buy a copy, and will be sure to post a review as soon as I am done!

Also, Marty is hosting book meet an greets in both Disneyland (this Friday!) and Disney World (in September). These little meet and greets would be an incredible chance to meet an inspiring legend of the Disney Parks worldwide.

Let me know in the comments if you plan on picking up a copy or are lucky enough to be attending one of the meet-ups!

Disney Snacks: Animal Kingdom Edition

With another Monday, comes more of my Disney Snack picks, so today we are headed in to the wild to feast your eyes on some tasty treats fit for the animal kingdom!

White Chocolate Elephant Cupcake
Kusafiri Bakery

This wildly delicious cupcake takes the number one spot every trip to the AK! The cupcake is chocolate cake with a chocolate cream filling, topped with buttercream and a tasty toasted coconut topping. Not to mention the huge white chocolate elephant topping this sweet.

Chicken Fried Rice
Anandapur Local Food Cafes (aka Yak & Yeti Counter Service)

So, I'm a big lover of Chinese food, specifically chicken fried rice, and this one does not disappoint. It is a classic dish, but so tasty when you feel so hungry you could eat a lion!

Fresh Fruit
Harambe Fruit Market (and other locations throughout the park)

This snack is sometimes underrated, but it is the best snack when it is hot out, or you need some real refueling to do. Located in proximity to the safari, this is a good choice before or after your "long journey"!

Banana Pudding
Anandapur Local Food Cafes

If you are a banana lover like moi, you will enjoy this delicious thick pudding which lay on crushed nilla wafer-type cookies. The best part? There are real banana slices throughout the pudding!

Bugs Sundae
Safari Ice Cream

This ice cream sundae will please both little ones and little ones at heart. Who doesn't love ice cream topped with cookie crumbs and gummy worms?! I know I do!!!

Tell me, what is YOUR favorite wild treat at the animal kingdom? Did I not mention your fave? Tell me in the comments below!

Have a Magical Monday,
The Pixie Dust Princess

Disney Snacks: Hollywood Studios Edition

As promised, I am back with the next installment of my Disney snack series! Yay! So, I will be posting my top 5 snack choices from Hollywood Studios, or as I still lovingly refer to it, MGM ;)! Without further ado, here are the best of the best treats fit for a star!

1.) Butterfinger Cupcake
Starring Rolls Café

What better way to wake up then a nice dose of pure sugary goodness? This cupcake is my go-to for any time of the day. Close runners up are the red velvet, and basically any other cupcake here! Pure deliciousness!

2.) PB & J Shake
50's Primetime Café

All I can say is you HAVE TO TRUST ME on this one. It may sound kind of gross, but this shake is heaven in a glass. YUM. Also, you don't need to have a ressie here to get this delish drink. Just snag a spot at the Tune-In Lounge! :)

3.) Chocolate Chip Cookie
Writer's Stop

Now this may seem too basic, but who doesn't love a nice yummy choco chipper? I sure do and this one hits the spot every time. The ambiance is adorable, so sit back relax and enjoy with a nice latte ;)!

4.) Frozen Coke
Peevy's Frozen Concoctions

On a warm summer day, this frozen, frothy delight just hits the spot. The classic taste cannot be beat!

5.) Cappuccino Cupcake
Pizza Planet

Moist cake, coffee, and chocolate- I'm there. And this never disappoints. Grab one after pizza, or on it's own!

Now tell me, what is YOUR favorite snack fit for all the glitz and glamor of the stars (AKA YOU ;)) of Hollywood Studios?

Disney Snacks: Magic Kindgom Edition

Today I am starting up a new series all about the snacks of Walt Disney World! Who doesn't love a nice dole whip or Mickey Bar while exploring the parks? Today I will be sharing my favorite magical treats from all the lands of the Magic Kingdom. So, as Pooh would say, I've got a rumbly in my tummy, so let's get to it!

Main Street U.S.A.

Mickey Mouse Kiddie Cone
Plaza Ice Cream Parlor

This used to be the glorious Cinnamon Roll at the Main Street Bakery . . . but since we've said adieu I'm giving my title spot to this sweet treat that hits the spot on a stroll down Main Street. Plus, it's totally adorable so kids and parents alike can enjoy this sweet treat!

Adventureland

Dole Whip Float (specifically half vanilla/half pineapple)
Aloha Isle

The Dole Whip is an Adventureland classic, yet my favorite is when it is half vanilla/pineapple, so the vanilla counteracts the tartness of the pineapple. When it is submerged in yummy pineapple juice, it is a surprisingly filling snack.

p.s. Not feeling the pineapple, try a citrus swirl (*available at Sunshine Tree Terrace) made with orange . . . also YUM

Frontierland

Corn Dog
Westward Ho Refreshments
or
Chili Cheese Fries
Pecos Bill Tale Tale Inn and Café

Frontierland is a bit more scare in variety when it comes to snacks, yet these two savory treats top my list for a quick, filling bite to eat.

Liberty Square

Baked Potato
Liberty Square Market

Located right near the Hall of Presidents attraction, this is a wonderful, healthy snack alternative to all the fries and goodies (minus the sour cream/cheese ;))!

Tomorrowland

Mickey Pretzel
Cool Ship Cooling Station

This is a classic soft pretzel, but shaped like our main mouse, Mickey. Tasty and adorable!

Fantasyland

Strawberry Shortcake Sundae
Storybook Treats

This is a classic and delicious sundae! Not into fruit with ice cream? Try ANY other ice cream treat here, they are all delicious!

New Fantasyland

Lefou's Brew
Gaston's Tavern

This is my new favorite drink treat- it is a frothy, cold mix of apple juice with a hint of marshmallow, topped with a passionfruit foam. It is HEAVENLY! With a maple cinnamon roll, or a chocolate croissant, this is the perfect sweet treat to begin or end a day at the MK with.

So, TELL ME, if you could pick ANY MK TREAT as a fave, what would it be?

Until Next Time,
The Pixie Dust Princess

One of the Pixie Dust Princess's favorite times of the year! I know, I know, everyone (myself included) loves the sunshine, vacation, and the laid back feeling the summer has to offer. Not too much work, lots of play, and an abundance of memories only a short window of months can offer. Yet, in less than a month for many around the U.S., it will be time to fill the backpacks, pack the lunches and get ready for a brand new school year. For all Disney fanatics, Back to School can be made a little bit easier courtesy of the Disney Store! Finding the Princess Inside of YOU- part 2

I hope you had a fabulous weekend, full of fun and relaxation, but now Monday is here. Don't fear, because the Pixie Dust Princess is here with another installment of Finding the Princess inside of YOU! The topic for the rest of the summer is Finding the Princess Inside of You, and today we will be discussing how to use your uniqueness to better yourself and others. Last week, we talked about how to find what makes you unique, but now we must talk about how to utilize those special talents while not letting others bring us down.
Second Tip!
A Princess must use what makes them unique and totally special to their advantage- to better themselves, but more importantly, others. Cinderella knew she was a caring, loving individual, but she used her nurturing ability to take care of all the adorable critters in her home, and eventually, her Prince! Now, once one finds a way to use even the seemingly tiniest talents (trust me, they are all important, no matter how big or small), they must not let others try to dull their talent, or bring them down because of it. We are all born with something special- a beautiful singing voice, a unique connection to animals or children, etc. These talents can sometimes spark jealousy in others. Now, we all know a true princess tries her hardest not to get jealous, as that is an ugly trait that is definitely not filled with pixie dust and positivity. Yet, not everyone can be a Princess or Prince, and it is how we deal with those *ugly stepsisters* in life that makes us even stronger, more independent, and more intelligent. Cinderella never compromised her kindness and good heart because of her truly horrendous stepsisters. A true Princess learns to be strong, and doesn't let any insignificant person stand in the way of their dreams, aspirations, and goals. Stay Strong, Pixie Dust Princesses and Princes, and let your light shine!

Check back next Monday for another installment of Finding the Princess Inside of YOU, and check back later this week for more pixie dust filled fun!

Find the Princess or Prince Inside of YOU- part 1

The Pixie Dust Princess wanted to start off this series with a topic that is very special to her. Finding the Princess (or Prince) inside of you. Seems daunting doesn't it? And no, to be a (Pixie Dust Princess certified) Princess, you don't have to be royally born. Yet, if you reach in your heart and mind, you will find that you are a Princess in your own right, and you can own it. You will allow others to see your true self, your quirky attributes, and your heart.
Being a Princess doesn't always mean being perfect, or always making the smartest choices, because even Princesses can make mistakes. It is how we choose to go about serving others, and amending our choices, that leaves a true pixie-dusted mark.
First Tip!
A Princess must find what makes them unique (whether it be a trait, hobby, or goal). Then, the Princess must stick to them. Let's think about it in terms of some Disney Princesses, shall we? Belle thoroughly enjoyed learning and reading, and didn't let self-obsessed Gaston get in her way of doing what she excelled at. Us Princesses must stand up for ourselves, and only that way, can we stand up for others. Belle (because she was so informed as a person) was able to help her father, and the Beast, and all the magic objects of Beast's castle. Belle is my favorite Princess because she is strong, smart, and kind. Three ideals for any Princess of any age. When you find what makes you unique, you can begin to unleash that sparkly, smart Princess inside of you. You will be able to have something a little different that you can feel wonderful about, and that is what is so beautiful about YOU!
I will be continuing this series, Finding the Princess Inside of YOU, for the next few Mondays, bringing more ideals to strive for, and more "real" Disney Princess examples into the picture.

Remember to Find what makes you UNIQUE,
The Pixie Dust Princess

So You Miss Disney . . .

I know the feeling. If you are reading this blog, you most likely know the feeling, too. If you're missing Disney right now (like me!) I completely empathize. You either just returned home from the "Most Magical Place on Earth", are simply feeling a little separation anxiety from your "true home", and/or maybe you don't know when the next time you'll be back. Us true Disney fans know "reality world" isn't as fun as "Disney World", but that doesn't mean we can't add a Disney little magic to our everyday lives! The Pixie Dust Princess has 3 magical tips to leave you sprinkled with pixie dust, even when you are far, far away from the magic.

1.) Disney Movie Night
Alright, I know this might seem clichĂ©, but trust me, it totally works. Throw a Disney movie night with your family, friends, or both, and include a few Disney movies (one classic, one current is always a good idea), some popcorn (think Main Street-style ;)), and some candy (confectionary, anyone?)! You can get as creative as you want, with different themes based around favorite characters, or even favorite parks. You'll feel super happy, be able to sing along to all your fave Disney tunes, and just be immersed in some Disney Magic!

2.) Disney Cooking/Baking Days
MMMMM. Disney Food! Doesn't everyone love it? I sure do, and I know at home I start to crave/miss it like crazy! My suggestion is pick up a Disney cookbook or two, or invent a Disney recipe of your own. Senses can really take you back to a place you want, and smell and taste might just transport you back to your happy place.

3.) Book and Plan!
So, I'm aware not everybody can do this, but if you are wishing to be back at "the world", make it happen. Work hard, play hard, right?! So, save some money and then book a trip. I truly think planning is half (ok maybe like a third) of the fun, so get on Disneyworld.com and plan your next dream vacation!

I hope you've enjoyed these tips, and remember, you can always find a bit of magic and pixie dust in your everyday life- even if you have to create it yourself!

NEW Ariel Sephora Collection

Calling all my makeup and Disney lovers out there! Sephora is releasing their brand new "Ariel" Sephora makeup collection in stores this August! This collection sold out online in June, but now all of us who weren't so lucky to score any of the collection online, can now purchase in person. Yay! This is absolutely SO exciting in both the makeup and Disney "worlds"! These collections are always great quality, and so beautiful and sparkly, yet sophisticated. Sephora previously sold Cinderella and Jasmine collections, but it as been a while, and alas, one of my favorite princesses now has a collection of her own. Check out the video to learn more about Sephora's newest royal collection.

Leave a comment below telling me what you will be picking up from the collection :)!
I've got my eyes set on the eye shadow palette, and maybe a lip gloss . . . ;)

Best Ways to Beat the Heat at Disney Parks

Ah, summer at Disney. The sweet smell of suntan lotion and the even sweeter smell of a Mickey bar wafting from the snack cart. If you decided that this summer was the perfect time to take the vacation of your dreams at any of the Disney Parks, good for you! The summer happens to be one of my favorite times to travel to Disney. Yet, some people might call you and I "crazy" for this (I tend to think of it as "nuts for pixie-dust, but I digress . . .). However, with my extensive research and firsthand Disney in the summertime veteran, I present to you my top 7 tips for feeling your best in the hot summer sun that will leave you feeling cool, calm, relaxed, and just sparkly ;)!

1.) Invest in THE fan

THE fan is just a known thing in the Disney Parks. If you don't already own one of these super refreshing bottles of joy, I suggest you invest in one. If you don't know what I'm talking about, or maybe this is your first time to a Disney Park, these fans are sold in little carts throughout Disney Parks. They can be seen resting in a bath of ice-cold, well, ice! And to be completely honest, on previous scorching hot days at the parks, I have wished I were the little bottles themselves! You might think they are way too expensive, or they look like a nuisance to tote around, but you, your spouse, your children, will thank you for years to come. I've had mine for years, and trust me, it has worked beautifully. If you don't want something as large, or less expensive, you can opt for a smaller spray fan from Target or the dollar store. I personally prefer mine because Mickey and the gang are just too cute on it . . .but whatever keeps you cool is fine with me!

2.) Get yourself some yummy treats

My personal fave way to beat the heat is to sit down with a pineapple Dole Whip in the Magic Kingdom, or an American Dream drink in EPCOT. These treats are cool, refreshing, and really just hit the spot on a scorching summer day at Disney. Of course, you know what floats your boat, so any ice cream treat will do the trick. But they key here with these yummies is to find a shaded or semi-shaded area to enjoy them in. You'll thank The Pixie Dust Princess when you save yourselves a sticky, melty mess :0).

3.) Stay Inside (for as long as possible)

Disney DOES have air conditioning. Find shows indoors (my personal faves are Philharmagic and The Laugh Floor), or rides indoors (my faves include Haunted Mansion, Dinosaur, etc.) during these hot summer days, and you will thank yourself! Also rides like Dumbo, where you can get a cool breeze are not a bad idea either. Just try to stay out of long lines and the humid air for as much as possible. Nobody wants heat exhaustion at Disney- it isn't fun!

4.)Take advantage of EMH!

Disney is cooler in the morning and at night! This is a well known fact that people often forget. Try to stay out during the hottest mid-hours of the day. If you must see the 3 o'clock parade (I know I must :)), you can leave directly after for a rest in your room or a nice swim in your resort's pool! If you are a guest at a Disney Resort, arrive earlier or stay later, with the "Extra Magic Hour" perk. It is totally worth it, plus some of the best attractions and rides are open during these hours, too!

5.)Wear a Hat

When it comes to the heat, we don't want to have hot heads! Wearing a cute sun hat or baseball hat can really save your hair and scalp. Plus, Disney has a wide (and adorable) array of hats in many stores (like the Emporium, or in you hotel gift shop). Who wants a burnt scalp on vaca? Not this Princess!

6.) HYDRATE

HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE. Bring a refillable water bottle, or buy your own (Disney water is expensive, FYI). I can't count the number of times I've overheard people complaining about heat, yet there is no water bottle to be found. It is a great, inexpensive way to keep cool, and it keeps your body healthy! What could be better than that?

6.) First Aid

If the sun has you feeling sick, or maybe you just ate a little too much at Chef Mickey's before entering the park, stop by the first aid centers (sponsored by the Red Cross, in each Disney Park). You can relax in the air conditioning, or get help from trained professionals if something more serious were to come along. With my previous tips in tow, I'm sure you won't be needing this, but safety first!

Overall, please have a magical visit to Disney this summer, and choose wisely. The sun can be brutal, and doesn't stop for anybody. Make smart decisions about your health, and you will end up having a truly fabulous time.

Pixie Dust Challenge

Happy Friday! Today, I would like to share some of that "sparkle" I promised when creating this blog. No, not the sparkle in  jewelry or shoes, but the kind you can spread! I like to spread it by blogging, on this blog and also over at pearlsandpoise.blogspot.com, smiling, baking, and being friendly. My challenge to you is to spread your own dose of pixie dust to a family member, friend, or a stranger at least once a day! You know how a small act of kindness can change your day? Pay it forward, and add a little sparkle in other's lives, too! I guarantee you will feel good about it, and karma will treat you well! Be happy and grateful this weekend! Take a hint from Dug (the dog from "UP"). What a happy pup :)! Leave a comment and let me know how you spread your own pixie dust! Have a great weekend, and look forward to many more posts starting next week!

Beautifully Disney- A Pixie Dust Princess Review

On my last visit to the World, I knew I needed to pick up at least one item from the Beautifully Disney makeup collection. If you didn't already know, this is a gorgeous Disney brand makeup line including lip gloss, nail polish, eye shadow, makeup bags, and more. It features packaging depicting some lovable princesses and despised, yet fascinating villains. I picked up one lip gloss (the Ariel one, named Mysterious Mermaid) from the "Wickedly Beautiful" collection.

ParksBlog_BD_LipGloss2

I, being a huge makeup lover, have to say I have not been completely satisfied with my purchase. For $14.95 a gloss, they should be of fantastic quality. Sadly, I am not thrilled with the gloss- the color is your basic pinky-coral. I picked this color because I didn't want anything too shiny, (think silver and gold sparkle gloss) or too dark (deep candy apple reds and villainous purples). The color itself is beautiful on my lips- it has a little sparkle (which I love). Yet, the feeling the gloss has on my lips was unexpectedly unpleasant as it was a tad gritty. When I rubbed my lips together, I could feel the sparkle. This reminded me of roll on glitter- but on my lips- ick! I continue to use this product, because I want to get my money's worth and because it is a beautiful color. Also, the sophisticated packaging is very nice and sleek! I just make sure to layer it on top of a lipstick or a decent coating of lip balm, as to protect my lips from the grit of the sparkle. I totally wished for this lip gloss to be held up to my standards, but alas, it fell flat. I hope Disney continues to play around with the formula for these glosses, but in the meantime, I really need to get my hands on those super cute nail polishes.

Also,  I hear Beautifully Disney has recently launched another addition to the line- "Unlock the Spell" which features three of my favorite princesses (Belle, Rapunzel, and Tiana). The Rapunzel lip gloss is calling my name, despite the quality of my Ariel one. Ahhh, what we do for beauty.

LipGlosses
Let me know what you think- have you tried anything from the Beautifully Disney collection? How do you think the quality is compared to higher end, or even drugstore brands? Have you tried the nail polishes?

SIPPIN’ STARBUCKS STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE OF MAIN STREET U.S.A!

When the crowds increase at the Walt Disney World Resort during the summer months, the parks become hotter, sweatier, and therefore, people are more apt to become cranky. Who wants that at the happiest place on earth? Now that the recently refurbished Main Street Bakery has reopened, now featuring delicious Starbucks drinks and tasty snacks, (don’t worry, some of your favorite Disney World specific treats have stayed) summer crowds will be able to beat the heat and find felicity in Frappuccinos! There has been much debate among the Disney fan community about whether this Starbucks is a welcome addition to the Victorian-age Main Street U.S.A. Judging from the pictures online, I do appreciate the old-fashioned feel to the bakery, yet also the modernization of the drink and treat menu. Just the thought of sipping a mocha Frappuccino on Main Street makes me excited for my future trips! If you are not a fan of Starbucks, there are plenty of other places to find coffee/iced drinks around the Magic Kingdom such as Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland and the Chesire CafĂ© in Fantasyland. The main thing I am disappointed about (among many other fans) is the loss of the classic, huge Cinnamon Roll. I am aware that Gaston’s Tavern sells a (quite tasty) version that is a twist on the classic with a maple infused frosting, but I am still a bit upset about the loss of that quintessential Main Street treat. Overall, I do love the idea of Starbucks on Main Street, and The Pixie Dust Princess is  offering open arms as it begins its journey right down the middle of Main Street U.S.A.

Please leave a comment below offering your feelings on the Main Street Bakery’s new “addition”  . . .
